Tools For The Job
Turntable setup needn't be a chore. A few simple tools will make the job so much easier.
1. 2 round spirit levels, at least one being light weight.
2. A good tracking force meter. The digital ones are perfect and incredibly accurate especially for High End cartridges. See-saw types are not very accurate.
3. A good alignment gauge. These can vary in price from £180 for very exotic and accurate gauges, all the way to freebie ones which can be printed off in web forums such as vinylengine. These free ones can be very good but make sure your printer will print accurately otherwise they will be useless. Commercial ones i recommend, Geodisc, Clearaudio and the best one is the Mint Tractor.
4. Various Allen keys and small needle nose pliers, small screwdrivers etc.
5. A loope of at least 20x magnification and a small but bright light source. These will be needed for aligning the cartridge.
