I had let my Project turntable get into a poor state , Dominic collected it and delivered back a " new " turntable , it sounds excellent . He took my Saturn turntable to service it and I look forward to a wonderful listening experience . Gary

Just had the pleasure of meeting Dominic, as he kindly picked up a Kuzma TT and arm from me (saved me the journey). I was bowled over by his knowledge and put at ease by his freindly nature. Having instructed him to give the deck and arm the once over (cartridge connectors need replacing and bearing needs polishing). I know it's in good hands. Simon

I sent my Hadcock GH220 down to Dominic..It is the one pictured in his Gallery..It sounds brilliant and the service was fast and more than reasonably priced..He is very knowledgeable and was a pleasure to deal with.. Kev.

I've had the Transcriptors Saturn turntable back for 3 weeks now , put in a new stylus and it sounds great ,it puts much more expensive decks to shame . Cannot believe what magic Dominic worked on it , you really are a genius .  Gary.

WOW!I've just received my Garrard 401 that I sent to Dom for a full service. This guy is amazing an he knows his stuff. He gave me advice on how to get the best from my turntable and even offered to come round and set it up for me as I live fairly local. My Garrard looks stunning after Dom has worked his magic and sounds so much better. I'm really glad I found out about this guy. If you need any work doing for your turntable, he is the guy to go to, he his knowledgeable, patient and more importantly good value for money. Thanks for the work you did Dom much appreciated.  Marc

Dominic has just rewired the arm and set up the cartridge on my Pro-ject 6 Turntable. I'm sitting here enjoying the results! It's a pleasure to know that your pride and joy is in the hands of someone who really cares about what they do. Thank you Dominic, you have a customer for life.  Mike

Thanks Dominic for the work and advice on my Leak Stereo 20. The service was speedy, effective and very fairly priced. The changing of the GZ 34 for a GZ37 has lifted the performance amazingly.
I feel as though I've got a complete new CD library. The Shostakovitch Eighth with Previn and the LSO on DG is breathtaking!  John.

Wow, what can I say... she's beautiful... can't wait to get her in the plinth. Pete.(Garrard 401)

Dominic. Many thanks for the fantastic - and fast - service on my deck. The sound is brilliant again!. Michael.

shiny new silver wiring fitted dom also cleaned the bearings on it as well.
having re-fitted arm back on tt all i can say what a big difference. Dom has done a lovely job on it and his standard
of workmanship is exemplary[well done Dom ]

Rega arm now married back to the P5 , Denon cartridge fitted & aligned , tracking & bias cranked up to the previous settings to get me going .  I put one of my favorite LP’s on ( Who’s Next by The Who ) , let the needle drop , awaited the sounds .   Verdict : HOLY SHIT !   My God , I don’t bullshit people unless it is justified & true bullshit but this is a different league to previous , soundstage has really opened up , top end detail & separation is superb , bass is a lot better being not only smooth but powerful  , it is bloody fantastic to listen to from the word go even before it is tweaked more precisely . I know you can go into these things trying to justify large or small expenditure by saying it is better / different or whatever  but I am suitably impressed with how the combo is working now .   I’m not sure if it is just the arm rewire , the bearing check , the cartridge cleaning , or all of it , I’m just so happy to have found you as you probably guess from the reaction ! I know you said it would sound better initially but get better after some run in , I can’t wait . Paul (Rega RB700)

Praise to God for what this guy can do. About 2 years ago on ebay I bought a Garrard SP25 MKIII turntable that was in near pristine condition. After it was restored and lubricated, I was experiencing problems with a loud mains hum. When I discovered Northwest Analogue I thought I send it to this HiFi professional. In terms of compatibility these type of decks in such were not designed for high performance equipment like my Marantz PM94 and Sony TA700ES Integrated Amplifiers. The SP25 models were probably made on a low budget scale in comparison with turntables like the Goldring Lenco GL75/78s and Michell Engineering – Hydraulic/Transcriptor/Focus One/Gyrodecs - made on a higher scale with their very heavy platters for full size LPs, which in theory are renowned to be the best for HiFi sound, judging by their output qualities. With the Goldring Lenco or Michell turntables, as an option you could upgrade by switching the tonearms to a Rega or SME in order obtain your choice of sound quality PLUS with the type of cartridges i.e. a Moving Magnet or a Moving Coil - which is supposed to produce similar sounds to a Compact Disc? However, the problem with the Garrard SP25 was that there were too many earths causing the hum i.e. earths joined onto the same wiring for the input connection and a mains earth connected, which was not needed. When the wires to the input were disabled and reconnected by soldering, a separate earth wire was supplied to be attached to the tonearm. Due to the design of the deck the mains hum was reduced considerably and was left with only a small buzzing sound that does not affect the output, as Dominic pointed out, which in fact is hardly noticeable. Dom also inspected the cartridge (SHURE M75EJ TYPE II) and noticed it was loose and that the wiring was connected incorrectly. With his expertise he put some washers onto the screws under the head to stop it moving and rewired the connections. With a cartridge like that I can also simply change it by sliding the stylus’s from LP to 78, as it is good for playing 78 records. He also cleaned it up and gave it a good polish. I say to everybody and those who are enthusiastic about old turntables like me, if you have got any unwanted ones (Garrards, Goldring Lenco’s, Thorens or Michells) that maybe in your attics or lofts send them to this expert in the HiFi business for customizing and reconditioning thus so that they can be made like new again! God bless you Dom with Many Thanks and Kindest Regards. The sound is a lot better than what it was before. PS – If any of you web surfers would like to view the turntable, please go to http://garrardmatters.freeforums.org/index.php. Michael.

Lenco L75 Transformation

Hi Dom   I now have the Lenco up & running and it is a revelation!  I am hearing things I never heard before, the sound stage is wider & deeper than with my Nottingham Analogue, good though that is.   You have done a magnificent job and I can’t thank you enough;  I am really pleased and can’t stop playing my records.  Julian.

Linn LP12/Origin live Tonearm

Hi Dom This is just to let you know how pleased I am with the work you did on my LP12 and Encounter arm. For the first couple of weeks, it seemed as though the tonearm wires/cable were 'burning in', though from the off the new arm was obviously in a different league to  the RB300. The OL arm made the Rega sound rather flat and mechanical by comparison. It sounded a little bright, however. This has now settled down, and the deck, arm and cartridge sound very good indeed, all in all a huge improvement. There is a bigger, deeper soundstage (proof that your preferred method of cartridge alignment does open up the soundstage). The biggest improvement is the greater harmonic richness, which is evident in the simplest acoustic music, eg. Julian Bream playing anything on any label through to a densely scored symphony by Mahler. Listening to music is a much more gripping experience.
Paul.

it may be the rose tinted stella glass colouring my ears, but its brilliant fresh out of the box. prefabs sprouts bonnie , talking heads pyscho killer , floyds wish you were hear and first 8 minutes of genesis suppers ready and I'm well satisfied . thank you very much . Dennis. RETIP TO HIS BENZ ACE MC CARTRIDGE

Hiya Dom
Many thanks for that Adikt repair - its performing brilliantly again. Mark.

"After Dominic did such a fantastic job servicing and restoring my 401 I decided to go ahead and order a Northwest Analogue slate plinth. Due to me being several thousand miles away it took a while to arrive but it was definitely worth the wait. Needless to say my 401 in NWA slate sounds sublime.
Dominic and Natalie have helped and advised at every step, making themselves available on Skype virtually 24/7 - they really do take customer service to a whole new level. Dominic's expertise, passion, down to earth attitude and willingness to freely share knowledge that must've taken him years to accumulate is a very rare thing these days. I know if I find myself near Preston and fancy a cuppa I could roll up unannounced and be welcomed like a true friend. Sincere thanks for everything Dominic and Natalie. By the way, I will roll up unannounced one day I promise! Pete."

Well after Dominic fitted his new bearing to my Garrard 401 I have spent the last 4 weeks in analogue ecstasy. The 401 does bass better than any turntable I have ever heard and I have heard a "lot" over the last 30+ years in hi-fi, the new bearing makes the bass even more cavernous but not loose or muddled, the rest of the soundstage has moved a few metres wider and Jennifer Warnes could almost be in the room, all this from a bearing up-grade, I cannot recommend Dominic highly enough, he is for me the best turntable engineer in the country. D Brook.
New NWA Garrard bearing fitted.

I can't rate the result of the silver rewire of my SME 3009 high enough, the result sounds like I've spent much more than the cost actually was. Fast and efficient. Thanks a million.   James B.

Went to fetch my Garrard 401 from Dom and Natalie on Monday and in spite of the fact that he's a busy man Dom made time to show me how my turntable sounded after a complete service and answered all my questions knowledgeably and with patience. I was knocked out by the sound of my 401 and since I've had it home I'm even more pleased at how it sounds through my mediocre system. If you have any hifi questions don't hesitate, both Dom and Natalie are happy to share their wisdom and advice! Andy

WHOA!What strange alchemy is this? From the moment the needle hit the groove,I haven't been able to wipe the smile off my face-that was a week ago.Huge sound stage, great imaging, amazing bass-this cartridge is wonderful! My Cadenza blue has gone back into its box, seems somewhat sterile by comparison. More than anything, this cart is just so musical that it almost defies belief! Many thanks to you both,it's a rare service you provide these days. Jason[Fidelity Research FR1 MK3F,boron cantilever and line contact tip]

The first thing to say is thank you to the Northwest Analogue team, Dominic and Natalie made my re-tipping experience very easy. Yes, its been an experience, a journey from the skepticism of re-tipping to total belief. Their customer service and enthusiasm is of the first order.
My beloved Sumiko was sounding very poorly, gone was the image and beguilingly natural presentation. You don't notice it for a long time, but eventually the penny drops, what is wrong with my hifi? To replace my Sumi would cost £1350.00 less a couple or three hundred allowance on trade in . . ., in these hard times one has to think 'hard'.
To cut to the chase, I got my cartridge back in one week, that's brilliant in its self. Dominic had put a few needle hours on it to ensure all was well. What can I say, it was like being reunited with an old friend. Smooth and natural, a convincing warm and easy presentation.
As one has put listening time in, the sound has become even more endearing and inviting. Difficult to describe but the word organic comes to mind. One is not aware of the cartridge or the system, but simply what the artist was trying to convey, as I say, natural and organic, as easy as the wind blowing across a warm summer meadow . . .
My Sumiko Pearwood Celebration is at least as good as it was . . . ah what the hell, its better, I cant keep away from the records! I am listening to LP's I had dismissed as not worth the effort, they have new life and presence.
Surface noise is so low, just the odd pop and click, no more background frying bacon, not even on my oldest records, some of which are 50 years old!
A real revelation; I'm listening to classical music in a totally different light, orchestra sections can be followed with ease, individual instruments can be heard, no longer is it presented as a wall of sound.
In a sentence . . . the Northwest Analogue's re-tip has potential changed my hifi life, thank you Dominic and Natalie.

Dom has recently worked his magic on my Goldring G800 cartridge by fitting a Ruby cantilever & Fritz Geiger diamond tip. The results are absolutely stunning to say the least! The cartridge now delivers truly blistering performance. Every performance aspect of the original (unfairly maligned) G800/stylus has been massively improved upon. The sound is warmer and more detailed, sound separation is enhanced, as is the bass. The sound stage is also improved. This is a tremendous modification and arguably the best way of spending £475 on a Lenco GL75. I could not be more pleased with the results of Dom's endeavours! I believe my deck now punches well above it's weight, it sounds superb. As usual, collecting my deck culminated in a 2-3 hour session in Dom's listening room and several cups of tea! I cannot recommend Dom highly enough. Many, many thanks! :)
Pete Clarke.

Just to let you know I have the deck installed and it sounds amazing – I can’t thank you enough for all your work and advice. I know the turntable wasn’t in great shape when you received it, but it’s back running better, and sounding better than it ever has.
